With over 30 years as a product specialist within the construction industry, Derek’s most notable success was originating the first reinforcement continuity strip product to achieve widespread appeal, ‘Kwikastrip,’ which he built to become the market leader, before being acquired by Halfen in 2001. More recently, after more than a decade in high profile positions within the supply sector, Derek recognised the opportunity to renew his owner-manager experience and teamed up with the Norwegian manufacturer, Invisible Connections AS, to become their UK partner. At the same time, Derek renewed his manufacturing leanings by establishing the current factory in Thame, Oxfordshire, principally to manufacture the FERBOX reinforcement continuity system.
Derek places high value on building long-term relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues via an honest and earnest style of management.
Lesley has enjoyed a long career in finance, working freelance for several SMEs. She is used to collaborating closely with owner-managers and producing detailed management accounts, which she supports with interpretation and advice. Lesley has worked for architects, developers and together with Derek for many years, so is familiar with the customs and practices of the construction industry. She takes pride in doing as she says and does her best to inspire a similar mindset in her financial counterparts at customers and suppliers!
Steve is an experienced mechanical engineer who brings crossover skills acquired whilst working within various steel and concrete disciplines. Steve’s primary focus is to technically support the growing customer base for telescopic connectors and to share his understanding of the many benefits this construction method brings to all members of the specification and construction chain. Steve is happy to present lunchtime seminars at specifiers’ offices and conduct toolbox presentations for ‘hands-on’ users.

Anthony has been involved with the manufacture of reinforcement continuity systems for some 20 years, so understands very well the characteristics unique to the product, as well as the requirements of customers who depend upon a timely and reliable service. In addition to overseeing all aspects of production and CARES quality management requisites, Anthony also manages transport and logistics, ensuring deliveries are distributed nationally and individual site requirements for suitable vehicle type (FORS) and booking in slots are accommodated.
I’ve used your services on my last three projects (telescopic connectors for precast and continuity strip for in-situ). You’re very good at accommodating site demands for lead-in times and value competitiveness. Very happy with the service I’ve received on all three projects and hope this relationship will continue on future developments.
We have completed installation of our stairs in both cores, using TSS connectors. Everything went smoothly, quickly and easily. The new anti-uplift brackets have done the job perfectly.
Telescopic connectors provide us numerous advantages for precast stair installation. Apart from improved time and efficiency, the health and safety gains over traditional support methods are a key driver to satisfy our own needs, as well as those of our clients.
Thank you for sending the calculations and installation advice. The new calculation software looks great. Very clear, user friendly and with more design checks than the previous version. It’s a pleasure to see how you are constantly improving.
As specialists in precast concrete car park construction, we use telescopic connectors for many key applications. Particularly, the BSF system helps us to construct a ‘modern’ frame without cumbersome corbel supports and enables rapid assembly on site. The technical back-up provided by Invisible Connections provides us with added reassurance.
We hadn’t typically gone the ‘specials’ route before. But, by investing a little upfront time to schedule our FERBOX requirements, we gained a smooth supply and installation process – without wastage or complication – and exceeded the programme demands of our slip-formed cores.
Invisible Connections are an outstanding company to work with. Between Ross in sales and Derek on the technical side of things, iC have an offering which the rest of the market would do well to get close to. I can’t credit these two individuals enough for the support they have given me for both standard and bespoke FERBOX connections – some rather more complex than others!
