Invisible Connections at Construct Day and Awards 2023
Invisible Connections were pleased to again support CONSTRUCT’s annual flagship event, held on 13th October 2023 at The Brewery, London.
CONSTRUCT Day 2023 was very well attended and presented the opportunity to talk with some of our long-standing and valued customers, as well as the chance to introduce our innovative products to new contacts in the concrete structures sector.
Safe, aesthetic, and cost-effective
On the Invisible Connections stand, the team were on hand to demonstrate how telescopic connectors invisibly support beams, columns and stair landings, providing a simpler, more cost-effective and aesthetic alternative to traditional concrete connection methods. Delegates were interested in finding out how FERBOX bespoke reinforcement continuity system satisfies design requirements, saves costly wastage and mitigates health and safety risks.
Sustainability in construction
Sustainability was the theme for Construct Day 2023. Accordingly, Invisible Connections was pleased to showcase our ‘slim design’ TSS and RVK 60P telescopic connectors. These Precast Concrete Stair Landing Connector variants can enable thinner landings and stair thicknesses and consequently, less concrete and less CO2.
Invisible Connections is currently engaged in various new initiatives to reduce capital carbon, so that our products can contribute to more sustainable construction. Watch this space for more information!
Whilst all Invisible Connections products are purposefully designed to maximise structural efficiency and minimise material usage and wastage, over the past year we’ve been taking steps to reduce our resource consumption and environmental burden. For example, TSS telescopic connectors are now supplied in a default black finish (other finishes are available) to cut our consumption of secondary zinc and hydroelectricity and so we can implement more sustainable manufacturing processes.
Excellence, capability, and inventiveness
CONSTRUCT represents circa 80% of UK concrete frame contractors and is dedicated to improving the safety and efficiency of building in situ concrete frames and associated structures.
Celebrating the very best in structural concrete, the CONSTRUCT awards recognise excellence, capability, and inventiveness. Congratulations to all this year’s winners and finalists; especially to Kingscote Design for taking home the PTA award for the International Quarter London. We’re proud to have supplied made-to-measure FERBOX to this impressive urban regeneration project. Winners of the 2023 CONSTRUCT awards can be found here.
We’re delighted that telescopic connectors and FERBOX bespoke reinforcement continuity system contributed to several projects on the awards shortlist:
- 58-60 Berners Street & 14-17 Wells Street was nominated for the ‘Project of the Year’ category. Here, pinned TSS connectors anchor precast landings to the walls whilst ensuring a blemish-free wall finish inside the core. For more, read our case study.
- Angel Square was shortlisted for the ‘Health and Safety’ category. RVK connectors will provide the hidden means of support for the precast stair landings off core walls.
- South Quay Plaza 4 (SQP4) and International Quarter London (IQL S4) were both in the running for the ‘PTA Award.’ FERBOX bespoke continuity strip was used in both these prestigious projects, whilst RVK connectors provided the hidden means of support for the precast stair landings at SQP.
Thanks to CONSTRUCT for hosting another fantastic event. We look forward to seeing you all again in 2024!
