DTS and BSF Telescopic Beam Connectors
Precast concrete beams can be connected to columns or to other beams using the DTS and BSF range of connectors. They provide an alternative to casting corbels which are difficult and costly to form, as well as reducing headroom and compromising aesthetics.
By contrast, DTS and BSF telescopic connectors leave a smooth soffit and provide a simpler, more cost effective solution and are also suitable for round columns or skewed angle connections.
Conceptually, the DTS range is similar in design and usage to TSS stair connectors, although the usage orientation is different: DTS connectors are used ‘vertically’ in application. Originally designed for connecting precast Double Tee floor elements, the DTS system can also be used for lightweight beam connections.
For high-load beam connections (up to 1100 kN), the ideal solution is the BSF system, which is a 3-part connection incorporating a solid high-strength steel ‘knife’ to transfer loads between beams and columns, or beams to beams.

Structural frame connectors
DTS Medium Load Connectors
Versatile and structurally efficient connector for loads up to 150kN. Originally designed for Double Tee floors, but also a perfect solution for small beam connections. Can accommodate round columns or skewed angle connections. Use with REDiBOX wall recess formers.
BSF High Load Beam to Beam Connectors
Heavy-duty yet elegant frame connection system for loads up to 1100kN. Connects beams to beams, eliminating corbels or bracketry. Also suitable for round columns or skewed angle connections.
BSF High Load Beam to Column Connectors
Heavy-duty yet elegant frame connection system for loads up to 1100kN. Connects beams to columns, eliminating corbels or bracketry. Also suitable for round columns or skewed angle connections.
Choose connector by job requirements
DTS and BSF telescopic connectors can be used in different layouts according to stair landing configuration. Various layout options are shown below to help you select the most appropriate connector and download the relevant Technical Enquiry Form.
Alternatively, our Product Selection Guide offers an ‘at a glance’ overview of all Invisible Connections’ products, indicating where and how they might be used.

DTS Medium Load Connectors
| Product Name | Features | Benefits | |
![]() | DTS 120 | Vertical shear capacity up to 120kN. Use with REDiBOX PRF-STD (standard version). | Mid load telescopic connector for miscellaneous applications (including Double Tee flooring, slabs and beams). An economical choice for load applications which fall between the performance parameters of TSS/RVK stair landing connectors and BSF beam connectors. |
![]() | DTS 150 | Vertical shear capacity up to 150kN. Use with REDiBOX PRF-STD (standard version). |
BSF High Load Connectors
| Product Name | Features | Benefits | |
![]() | BSF 225 BB (beam to beam version) | Vertical shear capacity up to 225kN. | A neat and undetectable method of connecting horizontal beams to each other, whilst accommodating high vertical shear forces. A steel housing cast-in along the axis at the end of the supported beam contains a heavy duty steel ‘knife’ (bridging plate). A second steel housing cast-in across the primary beam acts as a receiving unit for the knife which is telescopically deployed. The knife spans the joint between both beams, connecting them in shear. |
![]() | BSF 300 BB (beam to beam version) | Vertical shear capacity up to 300kN.
![]() | BSF 450 BB (beam to beam version) | Vertical shear capacity up to 450kN.
![]() | BSF 700 BB (beam to beam version) | Vertical shear capacity up to 700kN.
![]() | BSF 1100 BB (beam to beam version) | Vertical shear capacity up to 1100kN.
![]() | BSF 225 BC (beam to column version) | Vertical shear capacity up to 225kN. | An attractive alternative to precast corbel supports which are complex to detail, expensive to form and make precast columns challenging to transport. In good engineering principle, the BSF transfers high Loads close to the centre of the column, avoiding the load eccentricity inherent with corbel (and other similar) support methods. Use with BOLT2BOX where multiple connectors converge at the same height. |
